Aging & Disability Resource Connection

Programs

AADD provides a variety of programs to help meet the unique needs of individuals and families

living with developmental disabilities. Since its founding, AADD has maintained a reputation for developing innovative, effective programs that create support, acceptance, and opportunities. Our Women Against Violence Program (WAV), is one of only a handful of programs of its type in the country. WAV helps women avoid becoming victims of sexual abuse and violence.

Our Partners in Policy Making program teaches self-advocates and their families the skills necessary to affect systems change in the legislative arena.

Our Aging and Disabilities initiative addresses growing concern surrounding a major national trend - our aging society and how it affects aging persons with developmental disabilities.

Our Fetal Alcohol (FAS) program annually reaches thousands of at-risk teens, educating them about the devastating effects of using alcohol during pregnancy, and teaches healthy behaviors. These are four of AADD's 13 programs - each making a difference in the lives of people living with or concerned about developmental disabilities.

Gift of Hope

Thirty years ago, he probably would have been institutionalized; today, he is a taxpayer and contributing member of his community.

James, a shy older man with developmental disabilities, receives life skills and job-related support from his Outreach Specialist with the Family Support division of AADD. He's just one example of the profound impact of this program.

About 15 years ago, James's Outreach Specialist helped him move out of an abusive situation and into his own apartment. She's helped him keep the same job for nearly a decade. Through the efforts of AADD's Family Support, James works, paints, and enjoys friendships. He leads an active and fulfilling life.
